So, I read this morning that New York and New Jersey have declared a state of emergency because of Hercules. And for good reason! They say you guys might even get up to 20 cm. of snow and temperatures might go as low as -13! I think the authorities are right – it’s best to stay inside, out of schools and off the roads.
Here in Finland people act totally crazy when faced with conditions like that. They get dressed, put on a hat and gloves and go about their business like it was any normal day. Kids play outside, busses run on schedule and planes take off. Maybe it’s part of the whole Lutheran work ethic thing? The belief that hard work builds character and that winter weather is why God invented down coats, long underwear and Uggs?
Anyway, I hope you and the other 8 million people living in New York City are able to ride out the storm and stay safe. I found this article in the New York Times with some good advice on what to cook during the storm. And hey, if New York and New Jersey stores run out of food, just eat Chris Christie. There’s plenty to go around.
